Fujishige Farm

Fujishige Farm Produce Stand, 1854 S. Harbor Blvd., Anaheim, CA 92802

This old wooden sign stands in front of the farm's strawberry field, with the produce stand in the background.

The stand has an old-fashioned look with all its white trellises.

At least some of the strawberries grown on the field are sold directly from the stand.

Dried papaya, dried mango, dried cranberries, and other dried fruits are also sold at the stand.

A view from the stand, looking toward Harbor Boulevard and Morton's Steak House.

Ripe and unripe strawberries growing on the Fujishige Farm field.

Radisson Hotel is immediately to the north of the strawberry fields.

One of the many hand-painted signs on the property.

A tiny parking lot surrounds the produce stand.

Several ART busses are typically parked at any given time along the dirt road that runs by the produce stand.

In the 1970s it was surprising but common to see farms still nestled between major tourist businesses in the Disneyland area. Now there is only one such farm--Fujishige Farm--and most of it has been purchased by The Walt Disney Company, which was tentatively planning to build a third Anaheim theme park on the property. However, the latest plans for this lot have not been revealed, the last I heard. Still, I'd recommend anyone with any tourist interest in this farm and its produce stand to visit it while it still exists, because most likely it will be gone in the next 1-2 years.

The field next to this produce stand grows strawberries, and the stand sells baskets of their homegrown strawberries, along with many types of fruits and nuts. On one trip to the area in 2003 I got very sick for several days after eating sesame crunch bars purchased from this stand, but I may have caught the virus from somebody while at Disneyland, so it's not clear the sesame bars were the culprit. Since then, however, I've purchased only fresh fruit here, just in case. That illness cost me about 5 days of my expensive 8-day trip.

This farm is a block south of Katella Avenue, on the east side of Harbor Boulevard, at Convention Way. At this point Convention Way turns into a dirt road called only "Parking" on the overhead street sign. This Parking road runs right past the farm's produce stand, and the ART busses park on this dirt road when not in service. The farm fields are across from the Sheraton and right below Radisson Maingate, whose windows look out on the fields.
