Gazebo and rose garden at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel.

This hotel keeps changing names but has kept the same phone number for decades. The old juniper bushes on the property look like they date back decades, but it is difficult to judge the age of the building by appearance. On the spacious grounds there are many rose bushes, a gazebo, a Mexican restaurant, pool, game room, and several residence buildings.

This hotel was called Charter House Motor Hotel in the '60s.

(1731, 1735) Timon sidewalk

This landscaped lot north of Candy Cane Inn used to be a business lot.

This is the southernmost of the two former business lots in this stretch of sidewalk. The addresses varied slightly, according to the buildings that were on this lot.

One business I remember on this lot was Sunshine Meat & Liquor Co. This was a popular nightclub in the late '70s, especially with the ladies. I remember one male singer-keyboardist complaining to me once that the songs the bands played there were lame, like "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" by Elton John and Kiki Dee (1976). "Who wants to hear Elton John singing 'Don't go breaking my heart' and Kiki Dee responding 'I won't go breaking your heart'?" he asked rhetorically.

(1717) Timon sidewalk

This landscaped area along Harbor Boulevard used to be two side-by-side business lots.

What nowadays is nothing more than a stretch of sidewalk with some incidental landscaping flowers was once two different business lots, side by side.

According to address data, Cosmic Age Motel was one of the businesses that used to be on the northernmost of these two lots. Cosmic Age Motel had several postcards made of it, like Stovall's Inn of Tomorrow, and with Space Age Motel these formed a group of three futuristic motels by Best Western, all within one block of Disneyland. There is some question as to whether the names and postcard images are correctly matched, however, because the photos of Cosmic Age Motel look extremely similar to the photos of Stovall's Inn of Tomorrow. I personally remember the location and appearance of only Stovall's Inn of Tomorrow from this group, not the other two similar motels, so I can't definitely answer this question yet.

Cosmic Age Motel seems to have had a geodesic dome by the pool whereas Inn of Tomorrow had a white dome.

Is that Disneyland's parking lot to the right of the motel?
